Allergies
Babbles and Tweeds A rare and extreme reaction to individuals who are allergic to certain fabrics or garments. It does not occur often and appears to be the result of a mysterious fungus as well as an innate, perhaps unrecognized allergy. The affected individual begins to become disoriented and babble. Their hair and skin may turn odd colors and become plaid patterned. Finally, they develop an allergy to all fabrics and garments, getting an extreme rash if they continue wearing the clothes. Cure: Going without garments until the allergy subsides. Some solve this issue with constant mud-baths while others take the opportunity to dress in simple, all-leaf garments. |
Loveitis A strange mental disturbance caused by the pollen of the Sodu Flower. It lasts about a day and causes those who are affected to develop crushes on inanimate objects. They obsess over the objects and cannot be parted from them without extreme trauma. Cure: Extremely powerful scents, especially ones that may literally knock an individual off their feet and clear their sense of smell. |
Bacterium
Bubblemania This odd disease causes an extreme fascination with bubbles to the point of obsession. Affected individuals will seem to go into a sort of coma when in water, especially if surrounded by bubbles. They dread land and will do anything it takes to get back into the water, becoming addicted to hot-springs, rivers, and anywhere there may be a source of bubbles. Unfortunately they tend to have a breakdown when the bubbles burst, and as the life-span of bubbles is already so short... well, these individuals can suffer so many breakdowns from bubbles popping their mental health itself pops. This disease primarily affects aquatic creatures and humanoids who swim in or around hot-springs and underwater vents. Cure: Unknown |
Cucco Pokes A high fever with complex and lasting side-effects that is contracted by interacting with an infected Cucoo. Two days after contracting the disease a high fever will set in, requiring plenty of rest and fluids. About a week after the infection white patches will settle over the skin, the skin itself becoming numb in the affected areas. Once the patches stop spreading they quickly sprout little fibers. Around this time the fever disappears and the fibers elongate and turn into feathers. The feathers remain for about a month, when they will fall out and leave open sores that heal with time. Once contracted an individual is immune to cucco pokes for about a year. It can only be caught by infected individuals if you're in very close quarters or exchanging kisses. Cure: Unknown |
Dancing Bean A disease that affects pikmin that come in contact with infected poring or infected poring gel residue. When pikmin come in contact with it they become completely incapable of doing manual tasks, taking care of themselves, or listening to commands. Instead they stumble and dance around, twirling in an endless, slightly crazed pikmin party. They may even turn items that are found around the garden into games or primative music and continue their partying, to the point of forgetting to eat and becoming quite ill. If one pikmin is affected it can quickly infect the entire colony. If untreated the pikmin will refuse to eat or work and become ill, their sprouts falling off and their bodies becoming weak. Cure: Unknown |
Hole of the Tooth Hole of the Tooth results from eating too much candy and not taking care to clean your teeth regularly! By the time constant pain and swelling has set in, it is probably too late and the tooth may have to be removed entirely or at least filled with metals - a risky procedure. If not taken care of it can lead to further infection and make you extremely ill! Rumor has it that at times small spirits of sugar can even settle into the holes in your teeth to make their home. Cure: Removal of the ill area of the tooth or removal of the tooth entirely. |

Cure: Mouthwash, Teeth Cleaning, and Powerful Mint Tea |
Curses
Fade A mysterious curse that seems to affect those who sit alone and stare at Moon Flowers in the moonlight on certain nights. Rumor has it that some other flowers deep in Resmir Jungle have the same effect. It is unsure if this is a verified curse or simply a ghost story. Those who observe the flowers will begin to feel extremely tired, but not sleepy, and be unable to shift their gaze from the dance of moonlight on the petals. Their spirit energy will begin to fade and they will become weak and dizzy, but still be unable to break their gaze. Their very bodies will begin to fade, looking like nothing more than a dim shadow. Finally, slowly, they will fade out, usually with the rise of the morning sun, and be gone. Cure: Breaking the gaze of the afflicted and getting away from the flowers as quickly as possible may save those who have not faded too much. Others will need immediate consultation with a priest or priestess and healer to prevent the rest of their spirit energy from disappearing. |
Ground Rot An infected poring spreads a strange, gooey darkness everywhere it travels, until the poring itself sinks into the darkness. The affected areas begin to boil and seethe angrily, with a mesmerizing effect that lures sentient beings towards it. Once a being is in the area it acts like quick-sand, yanking the creature down deeper and deeper until can sink below the surface. It will act slowly which allows for the opportunity for rescue. The parts that touch the rot will recieve a nasty, itchy rash that lasts about a week. If the rash is not treated within a day the affected limbs and muscles begin twitching uncontrollably. If still untreated the muscle damage can become permanent. Cure: Golden Water |
Invert This curse causes the magical abilities and powers of the affected to become completely inverted, twisting their alignment to the opposite element from they usually control. A healer will only be able to destory, a water mage will find they are bending fire instead. Although switching elements may seem fascinating, it is almost always extremely painful and results in a lot of damage to the casting mage. Other physical sympthoms include dizziness, a low fever, babbling noises, speaking backwards, and the inability to read forwards. Usually a curse cast by an opposing mage, though some mages appear to contract this curse like an illness at random. Cure: Elixir of the Barren Soul |

Wordophobia If you spend too much time in the library you may be cursed with wordophobia! The symptoms include a fear of words, written or spoken, the inability to read without hallucinating about the letters, and an extreme terror of books. Remaining in a library may literally drive the affected insane. Cure: For instant cures or extreme cases being wrapped in Silk Bandages and hung from the ceiling of a library while being fed Banana Waffles has been shown to work... or a short vacation in a quiet, isolated area where no one speaks, though the latter will take a few days. |
Fungus
Shadow Blight A thick black mold that devours plants, starving them of energy and causing them to wilt. It is produced by infected Garden Keepers, who walk among the plants and spread the blight. Once infected plants can spread it to other plants. Cure: The only way to stop it is to destroy the infected plants with fire. Long-term isolation and treatment for Garden Keepers has helped some recover, though most simply fade away. It is recommended that you consult experienced gardeners or mages if experiencing problems with Shadow Blight. |
Wing Scale A fungus that affects winged creatures, sinking into their skin and causing it to dry up and flake. The dry places become increasingly itchy and grow in size if not treated. The affected areas will also quickly loose feathers and can spread across the entire body very rapidly. In faeries this usually causes dustless wings, though in extreme cases wings have become chipped or damaged from the fungus. Cure: Unknown, it appears to clear up after about a month or so depending on the severity of the case. However staying out of moist areas and keeping feathers dry will help prevent catching this fungus. |

Cukoo Carried by dirt mites. One week after infection the animal begins showing signs of mental breakdown. They seem to walk into walls and chase their own tails more than usual. They begin to eat less and develop a fever, chewing on inedible items for long periods of time. Some seem nervous while others become bolder than usual and seek out attention. Hyperactivity manifests itself within twenty days. If it is not treated immediately the animal will eventually go berserk and have to be put down. If other animals eat from the same trough or bowl they can become infected too. Preventative treatments can be performed to prevent animals from becoming infected. Make sure that there are not too many open patches of dirt - spread grass seed or moss and make sure mud holes are kept as clean as possible. Cure: Unknown |
