Age of Awakening

Chapter One: Dawn with Strangers

Thanks to the discovery of ancient manuscripts deep within the libraries of Avavel the teleportation circles - out of use even before the Abyss War - have been reactivated, allowing for instant transportation across vast distances for anyone brave enough to step into the circle of light. As the peoples of the newly connected lands begin to visit with one another there is quite a bit of culture shock and confusion. More than one diplomatic meeting has ended in humiliation and angry words being exchanged - but, so far, no one has gone as far as declaring war on one another.

Meanwhile the ancient Abyss spell groans and buckles, breaking apart in fits across the land. While the spell usually repairs itself damage still spreads across the land as the holy, dark, and mortal energies collide with such intensity. Sudden disturbances warp the land itself, causing entire cities to disappear, filling the sky with endless flocks of feathered beings and other odd occurrences. Although many of these cracks heal themselves in some places the balance between the energies must be restored or else the effects will spread... threatening the lives of all those in its path.

New lands are being discovered. Treaties and warnings are written, flying in archaic ancient languages and fragmented Common. Trade booms and access to the world market has suddenly been granted on a scale not remembered for a thousand years. Bold adventurers set out into a land that shifts with the changing currents of energy and magic.

Even the smallest villages feel the effects of the people of the world meeting one another again as the veil of mystery falls away and a horizon fills with strangers.

With ancient spells reawakening across the land and the Abyss unraveling in chaotic explosions of energy the people of Laia are finding that they have more in common than they thought - even if it is simply the mutual goal of survival.
